POD (Parents on Deck) is a program introduced in 2014 as a result of our 1st PSA Substance Abuse Prevention Community Forum.
POD meetings are held in neighborhoods throughout the NH Seacoast facilitated by PSA and which involve information sharing for parents and teens. We invite local experts to help lead discussion and answer questions. It is our hope that providing this kind of support will further our mission of encouraging youth to make drug/alcohol free choices and getting help to do so at home.
These events highlight our successful collaboration with important community leaders who have confidence in our efforts. It is this support that will allow us to meet our goal that prevention education regarding substance abuse and other high-risk behaviors begins in early education, continues throughout secondary education, and most importantly includes accessible parent programs.
We are working hard to make PSA a permanent, proactive, and positive influence in our community. To do so, we could use your help! Please consider joining us by becoming a sponsor, a host to a POD meeting, or a runner in our 5k!
2014 PMS 7th Grade Conference Parent Videos
Since PSA began, we have struggled with how to gain more parent attendance at our programs. Lives are busy and time is short. Although we all acknowledge that we have to be educated so that we can educate and protect our kids, it is difficult to find time in our busy lives to attend things that are not required by some entity or another. Whether it is our work schedule, the shortage of available babysitters or that we simply have to stay home, make dinner and help with homework, it can be near impossible to get to yet another meeting or program! With this in mind, in 2013 we decided to video tape our PMS 7th Grade Project Safety Conference parent sessions and make them available to parents via youtube. Now you can take advantage of the sessions offered on your own time! Just click on the speakers name below to watch the session.
We really hope that this will allow more parents to benefit from the amazing speakers we have had at Project Safety. Please take a moment to let us know if you think these postings are helpful - we'd love to hear from you at email@example.com.
